Mystery Stamping Reveal - Monday October 18, 2021

Did you all catch my Facebook Live on Monday night? All week, I had left clues for a Mystery Stamping session, culminating in the creation of the project live.

I started the week by posting these instructions:

Here’s what you will need to play along!

* Designer Series Paper * Cardstock: Pick a couple of colours that match your Designer Series Paper * Stamp set with image that can fit on a 2” x 2” square * A saying that will fit in a 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” space * Embellishments * Dimensionals * Double Sided Tape like Seal * Optional: Die cut of rectangle (approximately 4 x 2 ½”)

# Here's how to Cut your Cardstock: * Cardstock for Card base. 5 ½” x 8 ½” (don’t pre-fold it) * Cardstock: 5 3/8” x 2” (2 pieces) * Designer Series Paper: 5 ¼” x 1 7/8” (2 pieces) * Cardstock: 4” X 2 ½” (this could be a die cut) * White Cardstock: 2” x 2” * Cardstock: SMALL circle, rectangle, or die cut (my piece is 1 ½” x 1”) * Embellishments

Next, I left a clue each day leading up to Monday night.

  1. Score your base at 2 1/8” on either end and fold each side in toward the middle.

  2. Add Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the card stock pieces that were cut to 5 3/8” x 2”. Attach to the panels that make the card front.

  3. I’m the small, white card stock square, add a stamped image. Attach this to the top of the 4” x 2 1/4” piece. Add a greeting to the bottom.

  4. Attach the 4” x 2 1/4” piece to the card front ***only attach to one side to allow the card to open.

  5. On the bottom right of the stamped piece, add a closure. This can be a small piece of card stock, that is attached with a dimensional on the right side only. Attach it so it holds to card closed. You may wish to stamp this piece or add an embellishment.

All of these steps would have resulted in the creation of a traditional "Gate Fold Card". I thought it was only fitting given I'd shared a twist on this classic card earlier in the week.

I decided to use one of my favourite stamp sets, that doesn't get enough love, Perfectly Plaid. I paired it with the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper that was a Sale-a-Bration reward. I kept the colours simple and classic in red and white.

I also created a second card using the same supplies, just to show the versatility of the fold, stamp set and paper. Just think of how many variations you could create!

If you're looking to create your own Christmas cards this year, there is still time to sign up for the final month of Christmas Card Club, where you will make 12 cards, featuring this very stamp set. Registration will close on October 29th.
